Ira Joel Haber // Artist Statement

I've been doing drawings and collages in notebooks it seems like forever but using figures in my work is a recent development although there are plenty of figures in my student and teenage work. I like cutting out images and adding stuff to them as with the lady with the flower in her hair. Maybe subconsciously I was thinking of Billie Holiday when I did this collage, although of course it doesn't look anything like her. But there is that flower in her hair.
